Playable Characters and Storyline Carl Carl Fredricksen is not your average hero. He's a retired balloon salesman, who is forced to leave the house he and his wife built together. But instead of moving into an old folks home, Carl takes action. He ties thousands of balloons to the roof, lifts the house into the air and sets off for South America, fulfilling the promise he made to his wife years before. However, Carl's plan is challenged by the discovery of a stowaway, the optimistic, overly eager Russell. Carl's journey tests more than his patience when the duo must survive the extreme weather, treacherous terrain, and strange inhabitants of a lost world - as well as each other. Russell Russell is an enthusiastic and persistent 8-year-old Junior Wilderness Explorer. Armed with a backpack laden with gear, he is ready for the wilderness. The problem is that he's never actually left the city. All his knowledge of the outdoors comes from books, and his sole camping experience was in his own living room. He's just one "Assisting the Elderly" badge shy of achieving his lifetime goal: Senior Wilderness Explorer. When he targets Carl Fredricksen as the elder he will assist, Russell ends up as an unwitting stowaway on Carl's porch when the house takes flight and finds himself on the true outdoor adventure he's been dreaming about. Kevin Named "Kevin" by Russell, this extremely rare, 13-foot-tall flightless bird is hidden from the world in its remote Paradise Falls habitat. Kevin is exceptionally fast and nimble despite its size. In fact, the massive bird often gets into some very curious and seemingly impossible positions. Very few know that this scientifically valuable creature exists, but Carl and Russell stumble upon the bird, which Russell names Kevin after he discovers they share a sweet tooth. Kevin and Russell bond instantly, and despite the bird's propensity to swallow Carl's walker, Kevin joins the jungle's most unlikely pack, along with Carl, Russell and Dug. Dug Dug is a lovable golden mutt living in the wilds of Paradise Falls as part of the dog pack searching for the rare, flightless bird. Like the rest of his pack, Dug is outfitted with a remarkable high-tech collar that translates his thoughts into speech. But Dug is mocked as the nerd of the pack. Sent into the jungle on a "special" mission, Dug accidentally succeeds when he discovers the bird following Carl and Russell. As they're pursued through the jungle by his own pack, the sweet, but simple-minded Dug must decide to which pack he actually belongs. The Witcher is a pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games. It shatters the line between good and evil, building a world where moral ambiguity reigns. You'll become your own idea of what a great hero should be, as you control Geralt of Rivia -- a a white-haired "witcher," monster-slayer-for-hire and master swordsman. While trying to regain his lost memory, Geralt unwillingly becomes involved in a world-shaking power struggle. In the process, you'll deal head-on with matters that most fantasy worlds ignore: Racism, political intrigue and genocide, to name a few. The Witcher emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it. Incredible tactical depth - Six combat styles, dozens of potions, complex alchemy system, modifiable weapons and powerful magic -- all working together in a fluid real-time experience Inspired by the writings of renowned Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski

True Crime: Streets of L.A. is a Grand-Theft-Auto-esque action/driving/shooter that allows you to take control of Nick Kang, a cop out to solve a strange rash of crimes and solve his father's mysterious murder. The game treats itself like a movie, with frequent dialogue and cinematics, a soundtrack filled with some of rap's heavy hitters, and some surprising voiceover talent, like Christopher Walken and Snoop Dogg. The missions given to you tend to involve shooting up or beating up (there is a big distinction between gun fighting and kung fu) a room full of bad guys, or simply have you racing against the clock in your car. In between, you can roam around and solve simple street crimes (mugging, car jackings, etc), or earn upgrades for your driving, shooting, and fighting abilities. The upgrade mechanism is important because while it's an entertaining way to add new gameplay elements several hours in, the early game leaves you with so few moves that the game is hard, or worse, boring. The game also features a Good-Cop/Bad-Cop karma system that rewards or punishes you for doing the right or wrong thing. Arrest criminals in non-lethal manner to get better endings, or terrorize the populace and have both citizens and police turn on you. While it can be an entertaining take on the Grand Theft Auto genre, True Crime tends to suffer from hit and miss execution. For every compelling game element, there's another equally awful one. There are several mission types that are completely devoid of any fun, melee fighting favors button mashing even after the nearly-useless string of upgrades, and the controls and camera seem to work against you more often than for you. Ultimately, hardcore Grand Theft Auto fans and the infinitely patient may be in for a treat, but everyone else is advised to think twice about this game.--Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover Pros: Variety of mission types keeps game from getting overly repetitive Karma system and plenty of alternate cinematics add to replay value Excellent voice work and above average graphics Cons: Controls feel sloppy and the camera will make you want to punch out your TV Certain mission-types are just plain boring Melee fighting favors button mashing over thought-out, timed attacks

SmackDown! 2 is the best wrestling game for the PlayStation, period. In both its graphics and gameplay, it's very similar to the first SmackDown!, except that players will find a mother lode of options for spicing up their wrestling lives. Besides season mode, players can fight in ladder, table, and chair matches. Their battles can spill over into back areas, in which furniture and even traffic abound. Wrestlers can even drive a forklift over their opponents for particularly painful results. All of the ring entrances are there in fine detail. Players also can create their own wrestler with hair, weight, and accessory options that rival those of any wrestling game out there. Still missing is the color commentary; also, the move set for each wrestler is kind of limited. Overall, players can expect a fun experience that, while not perfect, is certainly the top wrestling title for the system. --Robb Guido Pros: Stellar graphics and user-friendly controls Countless options Cons: Still no color commentary
