User Reviews about Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame

I originally rented a couple of games at Christmas and Where the Wild Things Are was the one that everyone played and couldn't put down, so of course we had to buy it.
If you have trouble with motion sickness when playing video games like I do, you will find this one ok to play (there are a few areas when you have to run and slide that I had to have someone else take over & get me thru). The graphics are very good for the wii and you have 3 choices for level of difficulty, so you can re-play at a harder level to test your skills.
I play a lot of basic video games and this was neither frustrating in skill level or boring in storyline or figuring out what you needed to do to next.
Is entertaining for younger kids 7-8+ aswell as adults who occasionally pick up their kids controller !!! Not for the serious or expert gamer as they would probably find this mundane or boring.
Is a wholesome game, not much violence.....you do have to use your Kings wand to kill bees (otherwise they zap your life) and this sticky growing tar-like substance. As far as video games go the violence & killing is minimal because you dont have weapons as such, only a stick with a little star on top (kings wand). -- Better than I thought it would be
This game is not for anyone who enjoys strategy or complexity. You do a lot of running and jumping and climbing and swinging from things. You collect little energy balls, skulls and fruit. I was looking forward to some interesting graphics and special effects but most of the action is medium resolution and not very exciting. There are none of the magical visual moments I was looking forward too. Your POV in the game is a good distance from the action in the short battles you have with bugs, so there isn't a great deal of skill involved. This is not for the serious gamer. It is less dark and scary than the film and therefore better for younger kids.

BTW, my copy came with a "ticket" worth $7.50 off the price of the movie. So if you want to see the flick and buy the game you might want to get the game first. -- Not as scary as the movie...
I orignally got this game for my niece and started to play it to find out if a six year old could play. Mind you, I play games like Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, etc. This game is not only fun but a breath of fresh air. I stopped playing FEAR 2 to play this game. I think my mind was getting a little tired of the gore and evil. Anyway back to the game..

Okay it's the Wii so we won't go into the graphics (Atleast it's not ugly). I like the variety in gameplay. You are not just beating things with a stick. And the tasks are just enough to not become monotunous.

A cute and compeling story that makes you feel good to play. I would recommend for all above the age of 8 because of its difficulty.
-- This Core Gamer digs it..!
Like most movie tie in games, you run around and hit stuff and collect various items. It's not really a platformer, since you can't really die, and there aren't really any puzzles. That said, it looks decent, and if you liked the movie it's fun enough to run around the island. -- It's decent
