User Reviews about Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
There is no question about the thrill of racing games on the Nintendo Wii. With the definitive one Mario Kart Wii, really delivering from top to bottom from gameplay, to control with racing, it really has been the game-changer with knowing if there is going to be a racer that'll be close to definitive as that one. Well, SOnic is about to try it again in his hedgehog glory, a second time in racing on the Wii. He tried it before with Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. While that game wasn't very strong, it was a decent follow-up to what it showed from the Nintendo Gamecube era. While all the upcoming hype is around Sonic with Sonic Colors, and Sonic The Hedgehog 4 as a downloadable game through the Wii, many are ready to see Sonic re-capture his former 2-D glory. Yet, with the hype, he is about to try and get a second chance at the checkered flag.
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing for the Nintendo Wii, brings Sonic and his friends with a maddening race to get to the finish line first. In this game, the courses are challenging, but not anything to really sneeze at with races that reflect games from the Sega universe. Not just Sonic The Hedgehog, but lesser-known games like Billy Hatcher, Samba De Amigo, and Crazy Taxi. There are many great characters to race from Akai from Super Monkey Ball, to classicc Sonic universe characters like Dr. Robotnik, Tails and Knuckles to just name a few. The gameplay is nothing new for Wii racers, and the gameplay isn't completely definitive. The graphics look good, but the control is very shaky through the Wii Wheel and Wii-mote & nunchuck. While the control is a bit more steady at the Wii's Classic Controller, the gameplay is a lot harsher that is more than meets the eye. While there is online gameplay, it just doesn't feel like it is distinctive as Mario Kart Wii had shown.
All in all, Sonic & Sega All-Stars isn't a bad game for the Nintendo Wii, it really isn't anything special we've mastered in gameplay before. I really think Sonic needs a strong tune-up in racing to the checkered flag brfore he goes all out in his next race. Overall, stick with Mario Kart Wii as a better bet for hard core racing mayhem as a hard core Nintendo Wii owner.

When I first played it, I didn't know what to expect. The starting characters are sonic, tails, amy, knuckles, shadow, eggman, and the rest you have to unlock.Okay lets fast forward in say what made the game good was, the ability to: drift,(at level 3 you can run over another racer),the ability to use a giant rocket that can dentonate in its surroundings, and also the mega horn(which stops the racers in there tracks). The backgrounds looks just like the classic an new sonic boards, and they also have real life Tokyo tracks. In finally the hip hop beats, and the mettallic music is off the chain!I hope they make another Sonic & Sega All Star Racing, with more unlockable character, like the master of nature, the master of disaster, the master of transformation, "Vectorman" as a all star. In how about some others like alter beast, golden axe, mortal kombat Luke Kane & Shao Kane. -- "It's Even Better Than Mario Kart"
Fun racing game. Plenty of stuff to unlock to keep you playing so you can purchase them, and unlock them. You can play as any of the characters or as your mii. Most of the tracks are fun, the monkeyball tracks are pure evil. No matter how much I play them, I still lose miserably. This is not a deterrent from the game, though. I do like my racing games, and this is a very fun one.
The biggest plus is it is way cheaper than mario kart, for those who are penny pinchers like me. -- fun racing game
I am a big fan of Mario Kart Wii and have been playing it now for about two years, finding most of the hidden items. When I found out Sonic "All Stars Racing" was similar, I played it. The game is similar to Mario Kart, and one of the pluses this has over it is an opponent's weapons are not as devastating as they are in Mario. I don't know how many games I've lost because someone hit me with an object at the end of a race, but I still didn't find the game to be as entertaining as Mario Kart. It's not original enough, and I have had a hard time finding people to play online. -- Sonic Racing
I don't own Mario Kart, but I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game. I love all of the characters that you can be. It's tons of fun, graphics are great, and controls are easy to learn. Every time you race you earn miles which can be accumulated and used to purchase additional characters, tracks, and even music. My nephew has Mario Kart and likes this better. We played for hours. He's way better than me, but I had just as much fun watching him win. I even won a few times - so it's not that hard!
I was a little bit disappointed that you don't have crashing graphics. Every time you crash it just pops of the game logo and you start again. It would have been more interesting to see your car turning end over end or having your character make a rude comment like others racing games do.
This is a great family game. Easy and fun for gamers of all ages and abilities. Very addicting too! -- Fun to play, fun to watch!
