User Reviews about Jurassic: The Hunted
I bought this game for my 10 year old grandson. I'm the dino Grandma, having introduced him at the ripe age of 1 to the love of dinosaurs and every year I've been able to find the unusual "dino" gift to steal his heart. This game was no exception. I purchased a "gun" holder seperately and that helped a lot. He LOVES this game. And I was very impressed with the quality of the graphics and the fact that even though things get killed there isn't all the blood and guts so many of the games are like these days. Now, I'm purchasing another game for my house, so that when the kids come over, it will be here too.
My Grandson and his father are big gaming buffs. They have all the very sophistigated games like Halo and games geared toward older teens and adults. My grandson is very good at these games but I prefer that he have a fun game killing something other than people. To be told that this game was better than all the others he has played and know me means it says a lot for the game. What boy doesn't love dinosaurs and what adult male isn't the big game hunter at heart?
I don't know what exactly some of the reviewers expected, I've had all the original Jurassic Park games for our Playstation and the computer and this game beats them all. And playing it on the Wii was icing on the cake. Kudos to the makers. Kudos to Amazon for having it available for purchase.
-- Great game for dinosaur loving Grandson
As someone who is a fan of almost everything prehistoric, I had to have Jurassic The Hunted when I heard about it. I received it as a gift for Christmas, and it sat on my shelf almost forgotten until today.
I actually had a lot of fun with Jurassic. This is not a high production game, so don't go into it expecting anything amazing and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The graphics aren't anything top shelf, but they're pretty good for a budget title I think, especially the dinos. The boss fights are fun, controls are responsive and the sound is pretty good (I played with my surround sound booming). It's a fairly easy game, but with some frustrating parts sprinkled in (and not in a good, challenging way). It's definitely on the short side, which may be a turn off to some; I beat it in one sitting over the course of 4 or 5 hours today. There's some replay value, as beating the game unlocks 'hard mode', and there's also a survivor mode.
If you're looking for a dinosaur game, there ain't much to choose from so I'd say go for it, likewise if you just want some honest, mindless fun. Trophy collectors take note, this should be an easy platinum for your PSN-ID.
I wish I could give half stars, because I feel this is a 3.5/5 or 7/10 title.
-- A short, fun budget title
I just bought a Wii and this is the first game I chose, it's challenging and fun, good story, not to short, not to long, lots of dinosaurs!, plus with the Wii, you aim with the controller, that adds to the realism of it, awesome graphics as well, not for younger children though, they might get a little scared, plus there is very mild language and blood, but all in all, this game is awesome!. -- Awesome game!
I decided to pick-up this game because my wife and I enjoyed playing the original Dino Crisis games back on the PS1. So I figured this game might offer of dino-shooting entertainment. This game however is an FPS, maybe more of a successor to Turok. It has some of the trademark bad dialogue and voice attributable another Capcom franchise: Resident Evil. The plot is pretty much nonsense involving the Bermuda triangle and time travel, but not told in any way that enhances the gameplay experience. The dinos and jungle backgrounds are fairly well done and there's some selection of weapons: a 1911 .45 pistol, a fully-auto Glock 9mm, a 30-06 BAR, a 44 magnum, a shotgun, a musket, and an assault rifle. The only problem is that each weapon has essentially the same effects on the dinos, so the bullets from the 9mm act the same as those from the magnum. That took away from the experience for me. Overall I did get thru one play-thru. I'm inclined to rate this more a 2.5 than a 3, but rounded-up for the game's benefit. -- aka Dino Crisis 4
