User Reviews about Blazing Angels 2 Secret Missions
I bought BA2 because I enjoyed BA1 so much. This game is a definite improvement over the first. The controls are easy, graphics are great and game play and story are done pretty well. I really like that you can upgrade your planes, adds a little more strategy to the game. The missions are not overly difficult but a few of them did get frustrating from crashing so often. My one disappointment with both of these games is there is no speed or direction indicator - while its not necessary for game play, it would definitely be helpful in some situations. BA2 also adds defensive weapons, and while a neat concept, on "easy" mode there wasn't really a need for them except on missions they were required.
-- Many hours of play and a lot of fun!
I bought this game for my teenager for Christmas. He absolutely loves this game. Now I can't get my husband away from it either! What I like is there isn't the gore, swearing, etc. in other kinds of games like this. Although the characters say the same thing over and over which gets a bit annoying. But like I said, a really good game. -- Fun Game
The game is ok, the planes could have been simple like a real WWII aircraft instead of adding tesla coils and guided air to air missiles on planes that should have been harder to fly and had realistic weapons.
The missions were weak and the maps were easy to fly right "off of" (die). This game went from concept to product WAY too fast, they should have actually made at least 1 thing realistic!
I would not recommend this game. -- Ok, but low res and maps are VERY small!
As someone who cleared Ace Combat 6 on Ace difficulty without blinking, I somewhat cockily expected Blazing Angels 2 to be a cakewalk. Instead, Ubisoft did as they always do - they made a drop-dead gorgeous game that's wicked hard.
This is a true heart-of-war game. Hold onto your Spitfire throttle, the action starts from the get-go and is pretty unrelenting. The missions themselves are challenging enough to keep even veteran game fliers frustrated at times, so if you're looking for a casual sky-shooter you should probably consider another game. That said, between the missions, the "stunts" (which really aren't, but are goals to collect), and sharp play control, BA2 has a long life for play and replay.
Furthermore, it's one of the only flying games with a local multi-player option, which is a huge selling point in my book. If you're friend's not there to play, your AI wingmen are capable of handling their (with a little direction now and then), which is also a major selling point.
The use of an upgrade system, fully customizable plane skins, and the aforementioned stunts keep the game fresh and relevent for replay. My only real issues is that the controls are not fully customizable, and are a little awkward coming from other console flying games (at least on XB360). BA2 is also not compatible with the flight stick, so if using the core controller to fly will bother you, you've been warned. Lastly, the space between checkpoints in missions are sometimes very long, and you can find yourself putting 10, 20, or more minutes in only to be shot down and have to start over. And by "can" I mean "will".
Blazing Angels 2 has a depth, challenge, feel, and beauty to it that other gamemakers should look to for inspiration. Seriously. Just know going into it, this game isn't for the casual player. -- Wicked - good and hard
